X-ray Micro Computed Tomography Laboratory

The National Laboratory for X-ray Micro Computed Tomography (CTLab) is a world leading Micro-CT imaging, reconstruction and visualisation facility. At CTLab we can probe, analyse and reconstruct the 3D structure of materials, with resolutions down to several hundred nanometres. Our CT instruments function by collecting thousands of projection images from different viewing angles and reconstructing these into detailed 3D structure maps.

High resolution micro CT

This system has designed as general purpose system for a wide range of experiments giving the best compromise of performance for small to medium sized samples.

Large volume micro CT

This system has moderate-flux, moderate energy reflection X-ray source and 250mm travel vertical stage. This is ideally suited for larger volume samples (e.g. 10mm-50mm diameter and up to 150 mm long) and in-situ experiments.

Sub-micron CT scanner

This is cutting edge sub-micron with LaB6 filament X-ray source capable of resolving down to 250nm. Motion control system is based on Air-bearing technology to achieve greatest accuracy and stability.

Meso-CT

This system has high-flux, high energy reflection X-ray source and over 1000mm travel vertical stage. This is ideally suited for larger volume samples (e.g. 25mm-100mm diameter and up to 1000 mm long) and in-situ experiments.

3D printing ProJet 4500

3D Printing Z Printer 650

The 3D Printing System is based on the Massachusetts Institute of Technology's patented 3DP Technology (3D Printing). This is a full-colour 3D printer ideal for fine detailed models.
